What Songs Should be in your Musical Theatre Audition Repertoire

What Songs Should be in your Musical Theatre Audition Repertoire

Here’s a guide to selecting the songs that should be in your musical theatre audition repertoire before you get that audition notice. As always, common sense audition song rules apply for these selections: don’t pick something too overdone and make sure to pick a song that you sing well and that isn’t too hard to sight-read on the piano.

Hard Songs to Sing: Into the Unknown, from Frozen 2

Hard Songs to Sing: Into the Unknown, from Frozen 2

It may not have reached “Let It Go” acclaim quite yet, but “Into the Unknown” is exploding in popularity, and nobody is that surprised. When Frozen 2 came on the scene, everyone was already waiting to hear what the next big Idina Menzel hit would sound like. “Into the Unknown” is catchy and fun to sing, but those choruses and that bridge are high and on fairly unfriendly vowels. If you’re ready to stop ignoring the whispers and want to try journeying into the unknown vocally, start with this post to make your trip a little less perilous.

Only the Best at Molly’s Music

Our Teachers are What Set Us Apart!

They’re an experienced, educated, and dedicated team of musicians. How do we know that for sure? Our teachers undergo a rigorous hiring process where we evaluate their character, ability, background, and experience. We also host free workshops for our teachers on a regular basis. Music teaching isn’t a learn-it and leave-it field. It’s always evolving, and we’re committed to staying current.

What Students & Parents are Saying

I LOVE this Academy there are no words to describe how much fun, encouragement, and effort this school gives my daughter and the community. The singing classes which my daughter attends have helped my daughter tremendously thank you Molly Music!

Ana C.

Molly is awesome! Her lessons are enormous fun!  Whether you’re a complete beginner struggling to match pitch (me) or a budding star/starlet of the future like many of her students, I highly recommend vocal lessons at Molly’s Music!

Sean C.

Molly is an outstanding teacher!  It’s as simple as that.  She gets it.  She doesn’t force strict and limiting vocal methods on you the way a lot of vocal teachers do.  She asks you what you like to sing, what genre you want to perform in, and coaches you accordingly!

Student Spotlight

Viveka S.

Congratulations to our Student Spotlight Viveka for recently winning the Personal Musical Style category in our Holiday Sing-Off! Viveka is a singer and classical pianist who takes voice lessons with our teacher Emma (along with working on self-accompanying on the piano). Viveka has a rich musical history, including performing at a masterclass with world-renowned jazz composer Jeremy Siskind. Along with her lessons from Emma, she also takes classical piano lessons and Indian voice! She hopes to one day attend Berklee School of Music and become a music teacher herself. She’s currently working on her audition material for the classical and popular music conservatories at OCSA. Emma describes her as “one of the most musically diverse and driven students” she’s ever had.

We have amazing students!
