Last time I lost my voice, I had to swing by a friend’s house to pick up a jacket I’d left there. Her mom, having that all-famous “mom intuition,” noticed I wasn’t chirping away like I typically do, and asked what was wrong. As soon as I began croaking back to her, the answer became obvious, and she got right to work making what would become my favorite natural singer’s remedy: the hot lemon. Drink it when you’re feeling under the weather, or if you find yourself on a bearskin rug, next to a fireplace, holding an empty mug.

Ingredients

8 oz. of water
1 lemon
2 tbsp honey
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cinnamon stick

Directions

1. Boil water
2. While water is heating, combine cinnamon and honey
3. Add juice of one fresh lemon
4. Add boiling water and stir
5. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and enjoy!
