3. Singing Sand
Did you know deserts can sing? Sand dunes are constantly changing and reshaping at the mercy of wind, and when they do, a tremendous amount of energy is released from the top layer of dry sand. This energy manifests itself in sound, and boy is it a song to behold. According to a segment by National Geographic, sand prefers singing an E, F, or G; the thicker the upper layer, the lower the note. Almost reminds you of a massive bowed string instrument, doesn’t it?
