My Story

Emma Reynolds is a jazz vocalist and vocal coach from northern California, who now performs a repertoire of jazz, originals, and pop/folk arrangements throughout LA and Orange County . She has been awarded the Young Jazz Scholarship, and the Cal State Fullerton Jazz Scholarship in Orange County. She has previously studied under Inga Swearingen at Cuesta College, Lucas Mattson at Southwestern Community College, John Proulx and Linda Leyrer at Cal State Fullerton, and is currently studying with Christine Guter at Cal State Long Beach. Along with her teachers and jazz vocalists like Sarah Vaughan and Esperanza Spalding, she loves indie folk influences like Regina Spektor, Sarah Bareilles, John Mayer and Jason Mraz.

Emma previously taught music at TeVelde School of Music on the central coast, and has had many opportunities to instruct vocal jazz and other choral groups throughout her schooling. Emma’s teaching style brings together everything she’s learned in her private lessons, choral groups, solo performances, and jazz competitions/clinics from northern California to Southern California in a fun, easy-to-learn, and vastly applicable way. Emma has ten years of experience in vocal performance, eight years of classical piano training, as well as many years studying music theory and arranging. She is excited to share what she’s learned through her teachers and through her own musical exploration with her students!
