Guitar and Ukulele Lessons

Guitar Lessons at Molly’s Music

Guitar is a versatile and social instrument: from rich baroque fugues, to screaming rock solos, to singer-songwriter fingerstyle, guitars are comfortable in almost any situation. If you don’t know a sound hole from a hole in the ground, don’t fret— we’ll get you started playing songs in no time. If, on the other hand, you already have a booming solo career, we’ll work to get your technique right where you need it. Want to sprinkle a little vocal training on top? Just say the word!

our approach

To Guitar Lessons

There’s nothing quite like going to a guitar lesson and learning repetitive, boring exercises the entire time. We know you learn best when you’re engaged and interested in what you’re doing. Our lessons are well-paced, and our approach focuses on the style you want, whether that’s jazz, rock, pop, classical, or something else. But don’t think our flexible style means we don’t take our teaching seriously — it’s our flexibility that lets us teach everyone the music they want to learn.

Self-Accompainment
on Guitar (and Ukulele!)

Since all of our guitar and ukulele teachers are also vocal coaches, we can give you the know-how to start accompanying yourself. Playing and singing at the same time poses unique coordination challenges for students. We’ll coach you in how to stay confident and keep tempo, while giving your attention to the melody and lyrics. If you want to focus on the guitar more than voice, we recommend spending a few months learning the basics, and then adding 15 minutes of vocal practice to each of your lessons.

Our Philosophy

We encourage you to set musical goals and ask yourself where you’d like to use your musical skills outside of lessons. It’s okay to have undifferentiated goals, or intend to only play by the campfire, but it’s a lot of fun to pursue the ‘big picture’ by incorporating songwriting, performance, auditions, and technology into music lessons.
